Summary []

Kazuma Kiryu is the main character of the Yakuza series from Yakuza 1 to Yakuza 6.

He was raised in the Sunflower Orphanage alongside his sworn brother, Akira Nishikiyama and his love interest Yumi Sawamura until one day he and Nishiki were adopted by Shintaro Kazama so they could join the Tojo Clan. After many years of loyalty to Sohei Dojima, Kiryu earned the nickname the Dragon of Dojima.

  • Healing Items: Kiryu carries around a variety of healing items, typically food, energy drinks or first-aid kits. Aside from healing Kiryu, some of these items can also be used to recover Kiryu's Heat. The amount of health and Heat recovered depends on the item with some of them being able to fully heal Kiryu's health and Heat back to full.

  • Blackjacks, Iron Pipes, Batons, Knives, Katanas, Broadswords, Golf Club, Sledgehammers, Greatswords, Staffs, Spears, Knuckles, Bagh Nakas, Tonfa, Baseball Bats, Nunchaku, Kali Sticks, Dual Swords, Tasers, Handguns, Shotguns, Lighters, Sprays, Cannons, etc
  • Golden Pistol: The Golden Pistol is a unique handgun that has infinite ammo.
  • Grenades: Kiryu carries a variety of grenades including explosive, stun and incendiary. Kiryu is able to shoot them after they are thrown in order to trigger them manually.
  • Anti-Materiel Rifles: The Anti-Material Rifle is a powerful sniper rifle used to shoot through light armour. It is Kiryu's typical gun.
  • Anti-Tank Missile Launcher: The Anti-Tank Missile Launcher is a powerful rocket launcher. It only has one rocket but is Kiryu's strongest weapon.
  • Satellite Laser: After beating Jo Amon, Kiryu received an electronic device that controls a satellite with a mounted laser cannon. This Satellite Laser is able to bombard an opponent with powerful laser beams.

  • Sacrifice Stone/Stone of Enduring: The Sacrifice Stone/Stone of Enduring are a pair of stones that Kiryu will negate one attack that would kill Kiryu but break after one use. Kiryu can carry multiple of them on him at the same time. The difference between the two is that the Sacrifice Stone fully heals Kiryu after it breaks.
  • War God Talisman: The War God Talisman is a talisman that either gradually increases Kiryu's Heat, either over time or instantly, automatically.
  • Silent Shoes: The Silent Shoes are a pair of shoes that produce no sound from footsteps, making it useful for sneaking around.

  • Spider Gadget: The Spider Gadget is a wristwatch that shoots out an ultra-thin wire at whatever Kiryu points at. Kiryu can use this wire to pick up objects or people from a distance, wrap someone up in the wire that they can't break out of and be used as a grappling hook so Kiryu can quickly swing around the environment.
  • Hornet Gadget: The Hornet Gadget is a set of drones that Kiryu can summon at any time during a fight. Kiryu can control these drones and use them to attack his opponent.
  • Serpent Gadget: The Serpent Gadget is a pair of shoes that have jet boosters hidden in the soles. Kiryu can use these jet boosters to hover around and ram at high speeds into an opponent.
  • Firefly Gadget: The Firefly Gadget is a large number of cigarettes that can be used as a concealed explosive. Kiryu can throw these explosives onto the ground and wait for them to explode after a few seconds.

Intelligence: Genius (Kiryu is noted as being incredibly talented at almost anything he tries including gambling, fishing, all sorts of sports like golf and darts, all sorts of arcade video games and was a successful businessman who ran Kamurocho, Managed to build the Morning Glory Orphanage on his own, Is more skilled than Jo Amon, the world's greatest assassin who constantly trains and develops martial arts that are made to defeat Kiryu)

Weaknesses: Is too trusting which often gets him pulled into all sorts of scams, His sense of honour often makes him do actions that are hazardous to him such as fighting Ryuji with major injuries while a bomb is about to go off, All of his Heat Moves drain Heat, Dragon Heat and Dragon Spirit quickly drain Kiryu of all of his Heat, Refuses to kill any opponent unless he is filled with rage or in self-defence, Often rushes into battles without much of a plan, Kiryu takes additional damage from ice elemental attacks

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Brawler Style: The Brawler Style is a fighting style that is based around a balance of strength and speed, not excelling at either but not lacking in either. In this style, Kiryu fights in a far more flashy style that leaves him open to being hit if his attacks miss.
  • Rush Style: The Rush Style is a boxing style that emphasises speed and dodging an opponent's attacks before hitting them from an opening. In this style, Kiryu is unable to block attacks, instead, he is able to bob and duck under attacks as well as being able to do quick dashes in order to escape from an opponent or close the distance while keeping his stance.
  • Beast Style: The Beast Style is a fighting style that focuses on raw physical strength over technique and speed. If Kiryu approaches any object he can pick up, he will quickly grab it and swing it around as a weapon to hit any opponents that is close to him, this includes items that are normally impossible for Kiryu to pick up in his other fighting styles such as motorcycles and electricity boxes. In this style, Kiryu is unable to block attacks, instead, he just takes the hits and uses them to charge up his Heat with every hit he takes before striking his opponents with his full force.
  • Dragon of Dojima Style: The Dragon of Dojima Style is Kiryu's best fighting style which is a refined version of all of his other fighting styles after going through countless battles.
  • Agent Style: The Agent Style is a style that Kiryu developed while under the employ of the Daidouji. It focuses on precise strikes, tricky grapples and counters as well as using a variety of odd concealed gadgets, including the Spider, Hornet, Serpent and Firefly gadgets.
  • Host Job: The Host Job is a job where Kiryu takes on the role of a host who fights using a bottle of alcohol.
  • Breaker Job: The Breaker Job is a job where Kiryu takes on the role of a breakdancer who fights with a special anklet.
  • Chef Job: The Chef Job is a job where Kiryu takes on the role of a chef who fights with a spatula and ladle.
  • Samurai Job: The Samurai Job is a job where Kiryu takes on the role of an armoured samurai who fights with a katana.
  • Action Star Job: The Action Star Job is a job where Kiryu takes on the role of a movie martial artist who fights with a pair of nunchaku.
  • Aquanaut Job: The Aquanaut Job is a job where Kiryu takes on the role of a surfer who fights with a surfboard.
  • Desperado Job: The Desperado Job is a job where Kiryu takes on the role of a cowboy who fights with a revolver.
  • Pyrodancer Job: The Pyrodancer Job is a job where Kiryu takes on the role of a tiki dancer who fights with two maracas.
  • Linebacker Job: The Linebacker Job is a job where Kiryu takes on the role of an American Football player who fights with heavy armour.

  • Komaki Tiger Drop: The Komaki Tiger Drop is a technique taught to Kiryu by the Komaki School. When an opponent is about to land a physical attack on Kiryu, he can quickly deliver a punch to their stomach, sending them flying backwards due to the force of the punch.
  • Komaki Knockback: The Komaki Knockback is a technique taught to Kiryu by the Komaki School. When Kiryu is getting attacked while blocking, he can deliver a powerful backhand to the opponent, knocking them back and leaving them open to attack.
  • Komaki Parry: The Komaki Parry is a technique taught to Kiryu by the Komaki School. When an opponent is about to land a physical attack on Kiryu, he can grab them and deliver powerful hits by slamming his fists into their head and kneeing them in the stomach, putting the opponent in a stunned state where they are open to be attacked.

  • Heat: Kiryu, much like most characters in the Yakuza series, can use a mysterious energy called Heat. With Heat, Kiryu gets stronger, faster and more durable, he also becomes more resistant to knives and guns. Kiryu can also spend a good amount of his Heat to do Heat moves or to activate Dragon Spirit or Extreme Heat mode. Kiryu can charge up Heat by damaging the enemy and avoiding attacks, he loses Heat when he takes damage or uses a Heat move.
  • Feel the Heat!: Kiryu charges up his Heat and uses it to land a devastating blow to his opponent, this is typically saved for the end of a fight.
  • Revelations: Kiryu is able to look at the world around him and use random events as inspiration for new moves. Kiryu is even able to copy entire fighting styles by doing this.
  • Heat Eye: Heat Eye is a Heat technique where Kiryu, by using Heat, can slow down his perception of time for the rest of the world while he moves a lot faster.
  • Dragon Spirit: Dragon Spirit is a mode where Kiryu becomes invulnerable to attacks, can attack faster, can swing enemies around with one arm and can quickly dash to a faraway enemy.
  • Extreme Heat Mode: Extreme Heat Mode is a mode where Kiryu becomes more aggressive, can charge the last strike of his combo with Heat and can do powerful Heat moves after an attack without draining much of his Heat.
  • Dragon's Resurgence: Dragon's Resurgence is a mode where Kiryu uses all of his Heat in order to achieve his peak physical strength, even if he's in a weakened state, allowing him to beat down his enemies with ease.
  • Asura Spirit: Asura Spirit is an ability where Kiryu uses up all of his Heat in order to heal himself.
  • Komaki Fist Reversal: Komaki Fist Reversal is a Heat Move where Kiryu counters an opponent that is trying to attack him by quickly striking them and knocking them to the floor.
  • Essence of the Dragon King: Essence of the Dragon King is a Heat Move where Kiryu does a flip and charges up a powerful kick.
  • Essence Of Drunken Fist: Essence Of Drunken Fist is a Heat Move where, while Kiryu is drunk, he can charge up before doing a sliding tackle.
